Is it possible to auto hide/activate taskbar???

Frustrating

Can someone please advice wheather it is possible to have the taskbar auto hide and then reactivate with the mouse pointer. I thought this was possible but I cannot work it out. I am using the free version at this stage. I'd simply like to have a blank screen, then have the mouse pointer activate the dock (which it does) and the taskbar (which it doesn't). I am clever enough to know how to hide it, just not bring it back.

I'm not sure about the free version but in the plus version under Object Dock Properties - Positioning you can select autohide on the non-tabbed docks.

And on the tabbed docks you can set them to drawer and they will recede off the screen.

free version = configure - 1st tab - autohide dock
right click task bar = properties - autohide
doesn't work if you have the dock hide the taskbar

Do you mean you want activate the Windows taskbar at the same time as your dock?

I don't think this is possible - they are independant of each other.

I can't think why you'd need both at once or what benefit it would give you - may explain some more what you are trying to do?

Thank you. Next problem, when I right click task bar, properties I get a message 'The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator'. I sent myself an e-mail to ask for permission, but my request was declined

Can someone tell me what I have done to limit my own access??

If it happens when using the default Windows XP theme, with all programs unloaded, then it is most likely an account limitation that has been applied, or (if you are running XP Pro) a group policy that has been enabled.

If it does not happen when using the default XP theme, with all programs unloaded, then you have a program setting or conflict somewhere.

If group policy, it would probably be:

Run > gpedit.msc > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Prevent changes to Taskbar and Start Menu settings (enabled).

I hope this helps, rather than confuses.
