I can see where this is going. Nowhere. I believe I have thouroughly explained my thoughts on this matter, as I hope everyone else who posted here has. I am not into hair splitting. Whales are one of the smartest beings on earth. But, I don't give a crap what anything is. The methods of the killing of these creatures is wrong. This is not a debate on what animales are, but how they are abused. If this is all that has been taken from what has been written here, then I will bow out and let everyone argue over what an animal is. If anyone is interested in finding out how to stop the slaughter of horses, I will be happy to lead them in the right direction. That was the point of my thread to begin with. You all have the right to express your opinions as well as I do. But, while we debate what a paticular animal is, millions of animals around the world are being tortured, abused and killed. That is all I care about. While God gave us Dominion over all the animals, fish of the sea, and fowl of the air, Jesus said the most important thing is Love. We are not showing love when we mistreat ANYTHING. And I am sure that gluttoney, greed, slothliness, abuse and torture are not looked on with much favor by God no matter what is is happenening to.
The birds of the air neither sow nor reap, yet our heavenly father feeds them. Ezekiel. No torture or abuse can be justified no matter what kind of animal or human it is.

And then I would like to ask you to come up with the best method of Euthenization to feed the masses.

You are the one who needs to expand your brain a tad. And I don't now, nor will I ever need you to tell me what the problem is. I can and have done that on my own. Your opinion at this point is meaningless to me. And if I had to kill to survive, I would find something else to eat or starve. I find it hard enough to eat meat now without seeing the horrors that brought it to my plate. And every year I eat less and less meat. To see it alive first is not happening. Do you finally get it?

If the Japanese want to 'farm' whales....like cattle...that's all perfectly fine with me....all they need do is, as with cows, sheep, etc....build a farm...and breed them.

OK, so they will have to dig a stinking great big puddle to have them swim in...but...if they want them so badly I'm sure they can forego a golf course or 10 to dig one.

Then they can breed their own...and wait, there's more....it'll be like a REAL LABORATORY ...they can even wear white coats and look like dorks....and call it 'research'.

2. The Australian Whale Sanctuary is in the Commonwealth marine area, beyond the coastal waters of each state and territory. It includes all of Australia's Exclusive Economic Zone extending to 200 nautical miles (350 kilometers) from the coast, and includes the waters around the Australian Antarctic Territory and Australia's external territories, such as Christmas, Heard and Macdonald islands. 3. Under the law, there are penalties of up to $110,000 and/or up to two years' imprisonment for illegally killing, injuring, taking, trading, keeping, moving, interfering with or treating a cetacean in the Australian Whale Sanctuary.
4. The International Whaling Commission imposed a moratorium on commercial whaling in 1986. "Since 1987, in defiance of the moratorium, Japan has dressed up its whale hunts as research. Citing a loophole under the international convention, which allows for scientific whaling, Japan claims the hunts are legal and kills approximately 440 Minke whales every year in Antarctic waters," the HSI says.

My take on this is probably similar to that of Jafo. I think any animal is probably okay to eat if the animals are farmed and not mistreated. We all need to eat to survive, and there's nothing wrong with eating something that tastes good. So if one enjoys cat meat, dog meat, horse meat or giraffe meat, or whatever meat, fine. But I think these animals should be farmed and raised for that sole purpose. The conditions in which they (the animals) are raised and killed must also be as humane as possible. As long as it's for eating, any animal could be raised and killed. On the other hand, I am greatly opposed to killing for sports, for fun. Killing isn't and shouldn't be fun. Killing an animal is a necessity when we want to eat. I have killed animals myself. Killed chicken, killed pigs, killed a cow once. Nothing fun there. Quite discusting actually. But I lived on a farm that only ate what they raised themselves.

Whale hunting shows how primitive, selfish and greedy the human race is. We concern ourselves with personal trivialities while entire species are being wiped out
