Carolelee - In our culture eating cattle, pork, chicken, fish, and many other animals is customary. Other cultures eat animals such as dog, cat, etc, which may not be customary in our own. What makes eating one animal wrong but another right?
I disagree that horses are the backbone of Alberta, rather it is the people who built Alberta into the rich and prosperous province that it is. Would you be adverse to eating oxen which was also used as a work animal throughout our provinces history?
Horse is eaten in Canada as well, primarily in the province of Quebec. I understand your disgust at consuming certain animals, particularly if you have a similar animal as a pet, but does that make it wrong?
