Microsoft is moving full-steam-ahead with plans to make not just Windows, but a number of its major applications, available in 64-bit versions. But is the move coming too late for folks at the high end, and too soon for those in the SMB camp? Microsoft watchers are starting to evaluate more deeply Microsoft's 64-bit claims and promises. Meanwhile, speaking of 64-bit, Microsoft made available on Friday SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4, which not only provides the latest fixes and patches for Microsoft's database, but also enables it to run on 64-bit Windows platforms.
