Hi there everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to explain myself..::laughs:: if thats possible!
Im sure some have you have taken note of my strange writing habits when I post\reply to threads upon these boards, hopefully I can give you a basic understanding of these habits so at least they wont seem all that strange..
What I am reffering to are the words/expressions that I wrap with the semi-colons, for example "::laughs::" this one is a common one that I use quite frequently, it is simply another way to say "LoL" but putting it on a more personal level by actually describing the action/expression.
There are many, many of these that can be used ..::sighs:: ..::groans:: ..::frowns:: ..::giggles:: ..::chuckles:: ..::smiles:: etc..etc
Simple one word discriptions that add a bit more flavor to otherwise plain ordinary text. Lets face it, text has the ability to be very, very boring, using thise terms is like going from black and white television to full blown color..::laughs:: at least to me.
A little more advanced is to discribe more in detail, but for these boards thats a bit "over the top" perhaps. But as an example ..::falls out of chair laughing so hard::. this will give most imaginative people a "visual" that may or may not cause them to do the very same thing, LoL. It is a limitless form of expression, where all things are possible concerning the style, it simply depends upon the talent of the individual using the style as to how effective it is, and like most things, *practice makes perfect*
I personally developed these habits from years of on-line text based role playing, where being as discriptive as possible is the very point of the game. Reading a good writers storyline or characters action will almost cause you to not even realize you are reading at all, some have the ability to "paint the scene" with text and it would seem that instead of reading you are watching it unfold right before you as if you were watching cable TV ..::laughs::
Unfortunately I have stopped gaming/role playing due to reasons that are a whole rant by themselves and I wont bore any of you with those details.
At any rate, I hope this gives you a decent insight into my strange writing habits and allows you to at least understand what it all means instead of thinking.."thats very odd"..::laughs::
