Well, thanks Essencay, but I knew the answers to those other than the first...I only put the other questions because everytime I see a "rip" the "ripper" makes some long stupid excuse about not knowing he had to get permission or how to get it...
And believe me I think for the most part when ever someone says that they are full of it. Just the other day I called someone on a skin the "made from a screen shot at WinCustomize.com"....The sad part was that the preview image he used for his skin was actually the "screen shot" in question, he just pasted a pic of his skin on it....but the funny part is that the screen shot was of a port and it actually said something to the effect of "thanks for the permission...permission included" He didn't even bother to remove the other guy's name the start panel...then he had the nerver to actually include a permission for anyone to use the skin in anyway they wanted, as long as they rememeber the he made the skin from a screen shot.
Now tell me he did't know he needed the permission or how to get it?...LOL The to top it all off he removed the skin, but left a message that anyone that wanted it should email him...
So, basicallt my point was that a guide somwhere would be helpful...as a matter of fact it would be really nice to add it to an agreement page BEFORE the person can upload a skin....
Like with the new set up here...say I made a port and I checked the "port" box and hit submit...instead of starting the upload, then being redirected to the page that says the 5 day thins and the give credit thing...Since I checked the box redirect to a guideline page for ports so that I then I have to check an "I agree" box before my skin start to upload.
Then no one could EVER claim they didn't know again...not here anyway, and it wouldn't even effect the people that aren't uploading ports, because theirs cold begin the upload and redirect just like it is now....
I know that there's the after upload thing about giving credit, but by then it's too late, see what I mean?
Just a suggestion. I tend to catch a lot of rips, because I do a whole lot of browsing and collecting, to the point where I reconize who made what...or at least that someone else made it first...then I go on the hunt to find where I saw the skin before....and honestly it happens a LOT.
