Stardock Newbie - Looking for "calendar" feature

I see a calendar (full month views) in a lot of the screenshots. i don't know if this is part of the wallpapers that y'all have installed, or if it is a customizable feature from one of the Stardock products.

Right now, i only have WindowBlinds 4.4 -- do i need to install an add-on, or another Stardock app?

a seperate question, i think... what is the Rainlender? is this where i get the calendar?

i apologize if this is a redundant inquiry... i have done a lot of searching, but sometimes it's an invisibility of the "forest for the trees" issue w/ me.

thanks! so far, i really enjoy this new toy (the XP skins of WindowBlinds)!

You can get the calendar using DesktopX or Rainlendar. Both do the job quite nicely...

If you install DesktopX (http://www.desktopx.net) I think it comes with a calendar object.

thanks. why might i choose one over the other? why two apps for the same function?

The calendar is just a small part of DesktopX.
DesktopX allows you complete control over your desktop environment from a customization point of view. It's like Windowblinds on steriods, but it requires a little more work on your part. It uses "Objects" and "Widgets" such as the calendar. There are weather obejects, media objects, system monitoring objects and a whole lot more.

Rainlender is a calendar program that allows the calendar to be skinned. You can also track birthdays, appointments, etc. and it has a "Todo" list.

DesktopX is part of the Object Desktop suite of applications and I highly recommend it. Rainlender is a stand-alone project and there is a link to their site in the Rainlender gallery.

Lantec, thank you very much for your thoughtful, informative reply. It is much appreciated, and exactly the info that i was looking for! now i feel comfortable to give 'em both a try, knowing a bit more of what to expect. it's the "to do" list that i think might save me!

rock on! the rainlender (calendar) is awesome, and the events/ to-do features are EXACTLY what i've been looking for!

(no more txt docs in my startup for reminders...hehe)
