I am a dial-up user, and 15 MB is no easy job to download, especially in bangalore. The speed, on an average, is only about 3 kbps. So, when I am downloading it, I have to be damn sure it is going to be worthwhile. After all, who is going to waste an hour of phone charges when an update is due in near future?
Can you give us a date when the new launch is to be sheduled? If you can't give that, could you start issuing patches which we can download, like how StyleXP does?
Speaking of StyleXP, is there any way to convert the .msstyles to webshots format? I have a bunch of these themes, which I get from mag CDs. But then StyleXP is, you know, not so good. The interface is terrible, with all the background designs and placing of command buttons. You should see the mess it creats after you uninstall it. ICandy icons, bootscreens, all in some obscure folder. Atleast, obscure to me. If an app deserves to be put in the Interface Hall of Shame, this is it.
Many references to ads were given in parts 1 & 2. One thing I really hate about stardock products is the nagging screen. Look at it this way. I am a student and I really want to buy some of Stardock producks, but my parents won't allow me. They want me to concentrate on my studies. I settle for the free version, atleast till I land up a good job, but then this nag screen turns up every boot. I hate this, so I uninstall it. If someone likes your product and wants to buy it, he'll buy it. That is the object of the free version, and if you drive him nuts with all these nag screens he doesnt want, he is just going to delete it. Loss for you. Not to mention the bad talk-of-the-mouth publicity. Could you make an option in the main program for the customer to order it and thrash the nag screens?
