Here is my advice....... open skinstudio, and open  a straightforward Blind, (one without animations or complicated stuff). Before you do anything else, go to "File, save as", and give it a new unique name. Now, go to WB configuration, and load that skin with the new name and hit "edit in SkinStudio."
when it opens, you can then RIGHT CLICK on ANY image in the preview and choose "Edit With", and then go to your graphic program.
When it opens in the Graphics program, create a new image over the top of the old one using your own ideas and designs. then go to "File, save a copy"and save it over the top of the old one (remembering to remove "copy" from the end of the file name. when you bring SkinStudio back up, the image will have been replaced with your new one. go to File, save, and then reload the skin to see the changes.
This is the way most of us started to skin WB's. by the time you have replaced all the images in the skin, you will have learned an awful lot about margins etc, and you'll be on your way.
If the above is too much for you to bother with, I don't think you will ever skin WindowBlinds......it's all about patience and long hours.
Have fun!!
