BootSkin alert!

Just so you know, there's going to be some pain when Windows XP SP2 comes out.

For some reason, reasons we don't know, the FIRST time you reboot XP SP2 when it comes out BootSkin will likely cause a blue screen of death. The SECOND time you restart (after the blue screen) it should be fine. We're looking into the cause, it's pretty bizarre that it would do that (i.e. why one time but recover on its own after that?). But some people will be affected by it.

BootSKin hasn't given me any trouble with SP2 so far, other than now it shows the original bootscreen for a half second.................. never did that before, I installed the SP2 rc2.

wonder if it could have something to do with the new security scheme?

where the boot image is being replaced and it has to first run, windows whines, changes some bit and then is ok from second boot on?

I've still not been able to get Bootskin to function on my AMD +3200 XP Laptop yet. The BIOS on this system is the cause I am sure:

SP2's Internet Connection Firewall includes a new lock down feature which at boot-time it's policy is to perform filtering from the earliest points of connection with the boot sector. It can be disabled, but not configured, so there may be a momentary instance of it during startup prior to the 'disable command'. It probably also affects the first boot after install.

Hey John, you don't have the 'Boot-Splash Screen' enabled in that Award bios, do you?

well i have xp sp1 and everytime i install a boothskin and restart i receive an unexpected error message and if i want window too boot i have to start my comp in last know good configurations. it sucks so i don't use bootskin

yeah it can not find the path set to the %SYSTEM%\yada yada ya

even when you edit your system to point directly to Windows..
