IPlural: Sometimes the people actually doing the murdering are at fault. |
I am not that thick to think otherwise...
Blaming the US or the CIA or any other organization for the murderous behavior of the terrorists is akin to blaming society for the actions of a serial killer. |
I do not see it as blame, but acceptance of the responsibility for being a part of the cause...
This is one of the key issues we are all going to face in the future when the understanding that you can not just go out and kill all terrorists and expect it to ever end finally sinks in.
1. look at the past and present and see what part each plays in the existence of terrorism at it's core.
2. find what part our nation has played in the birth of it and plays in it's continued existence.
3. openly accept this responsibility.
3a. See that we make the changes needed over a period of time which will work in taking us down the path we seek, sometime we will have to decide exactly what that path is ( I hope it is figured out before mucking up the trail to much so we can find the damn thing in time )
3b. figure out where we can make some kind of adjustments with actions that prove we mean what we say and do, that it is not only a temporary thing we will toss aside the first time we see something we want and can not figure out how to trade for.
Quit saying this is not a religious war only to turn around and blast the Cable News and Papers with how nasty the Muslim religion is. I am not saying everyone does this, but when you have people calling into talk radio shouting about how the only way to end terrorism is for all Muslims to convert or die, it pretty much paints a pretty picture of a desire of equitable co-existence don't you think?
Have the government quit trying to push the UN and NATO to exclude the US Government and Military from being brought up on charges of War Crimes and such. The prison in Iraq is a blatant advertisement that even the USA is not above such a thing.
There is not any means with which the government or the people of the USA can honestly say there is any reason we should not be under the same laws and restrictions as every other member nation. What do we have to fear if we do not fear that we would do something that would allow someone to bring charges?
As far as Iraq and Afghanistan, Sudan, Haiti and various other hot spots go. I hold all member nations in contempt for their lack of action and their innate ability to stand up with some kind of self righteous wrapper while explaining the moral stance behind not taking action to end such destitute, vile, reprehensible and murderous existence that many on this planet go to sleep only to wake up with each and every single day of their short lives which end without ever really living.
Why did it take 20 years to do anything in Afghanistan or Iraq? Because we only used those places as a mean to fight our battles against foes we did not want to face toe to toe in the fear of all out global war. Was that in fact the moral path to take? I guess it depends on if you happened to be gassed on the Iraq/Iran border, or your son, father or husband was you would not need to wonder.
Hell, those who did not pretty much could care less to being with, at least a huge percent of the US citizens didn't and don't give it a second thought or apply some distant passing thought it "sucks for them".
Afghanistan we supported fighting Russia to give the USSR their own Vietnam. We poured money and weapons in, trained, even had operators working with them because it was against Russia, not because it was for Afghanistan. The proof that is the case is there for all to see when we pulled out everything and left them to the Taliban and then ignored them until 9/11/2001. Then when faced with the fact that we cut and run on them so many years before, what do we say? "We made a mistake" That is almost laughable except it is so sad and so common in our past. We've made many mistakes along those lines to different degree's.
That was and is my point in all of this.
As far as Mike Moore goes, hell he is the Rush of Liberal Screens. Both of them spew screed to the masses that will suck it up like manna from heaven. The difference is, this movie, graphically depicts exactly what took place. It might be twisted to hell and back with his voice bantering our screed in the in the back ground. But if you look at the screen and tune out his opinions and view the things in it. Then you alone own what you leave with, screw HIS message and screw Rush while we're at it
I find it rather odd that if ones child was to come home and say that they had beat the hell out of someone at school because someone else had told them something that was not quit right but it was OK because the beat to hell needed it anyways. The parent would blow a gasket.
Yet when the President of this Nation pretty much does the same thing on a more extrema level it is not only defensible
but totally acceptable?
On that account I think he lied, knew he was lying and continues to lie.
On the account of the UN being pointless or otherwise a Hog with Teats, yep they are.
How they can sit back and think it is OK to let someone like Saddam rule and kill as he did is beyond me.
Where Bush went wrong was he lied. He did so partly because he knew this country would not agree with going to war to remove Saddam because he needed to be remove. This is where I hold the citizens of the USA at fault in all of this.
If we are going to wrap ourselves up in the flag and wear a moral halo of justice and righteousness then we damn well best put up and allow our nation to not only talk the talk but do the walk also or shut up. That goes for all the others nations of this world who make some claim of being moral and just...
This whole mentality of don't get involved has to end or we need to quit trying to being a leading part of the global village and be happy with holding a charter membership.
anyway back to not thinking with me...
