He was the greatest President in modern times. Whether you agreed with his policies or not, he accomplished a great deal and helped return America to the doldrums it was in from Carter. He also helped end the Cold War. I know I'm only hitting the tip of the iceberg of his accomplishments. He knew how to be President.
It is a shame he had to go this way, being out of it really for the past 10 years.
He is the last President who wasn't guided by ulterior motives. I haven't been able to trust anyone since. I feel in many ways what Reagan built up has been ruined by the succeeding presidents.

Even if you don't agree on his policies, the world has a lost a great former leader.

Ronald Reagan was one of America's most popular and well-loved presidents of modern times. Though not everyone did or does agree with his policies, he was a great orator that made you feel good to be an American. God Bless him and his family.

Aw...David K...do not know how old you are but you need to study in depth a bit more of history. reagan did not dismantle the health system or any of the other things you seem to apply to him. As to the Republicans dismantling free elections you need to study history a bit more and you will find many instances where this was thought to be true, most recently the election of John Kennedy, who only won with the votes that Mayor Daley of Chicago (a democrat) got him in the election. Those votes turned out to be from thousands of dead people! Nixon did not want to tear the country up by protesting the results, unlike Al Gore who in his zest for power had no thought of the country when he protested the results in Florida. I could go on and talk about Lyndon Johnson and the fake Gulf of Tonkin attack that led to over 50,000 Americans being killed in Vietnam, a country that Eisenhower and JFK warned we should not be involved in, and the demorcratic controlled congress that went along with LBJ even after they found out the truth. My point is start thinking for yourself, investigate, and most of all vote...not as a democrat or a republican, but as an American who questions the "political correct thought" and what he or she sees or reads in the news media, but what he or she has thoroughly investigated and thought out. Only we, the American people, will end up destroying our system. By the way, I am a registered Democrat and did not vote for Reagan or Bush. But in Reagans case, I would if I could do it all over again.

Yeah Morgan Freeman would be a great President - or - the guy that played the DA in Law and Order and did some ads for some financial institution (Smith Barney? "we do business the old fashioned way" or something like that) don''t know his name but he''d be believable as president too.

Actually if we have to get a politician I''d vote for Charles Rangle and Cynthia McKinney...

John Edwards is at the Bilderberg Conference right now, I assume that means he''ll replace Kerry as the Dem''s candidate or at least be the VP. But that''s only if Kissinger can keep Cheney''s storm troopers at bay for a few more months, the Bilderbergs are losing their grasp 

This thread should stay dedicated to Mr. Reagan''s passing, I don''t wish to distract from that. I too wish his family well and though I thought he was a terrible president I offer my condolences to all who knew him and mourn his passing. He did have some good moments and certainly it''s best to remember the good in those who have gone before us.

Reagan was the worst thing that EVER happened to middle class America. And prolonged the cold war as long as he could. Gorbechov gets all the credit for ending that in my book. The man had enough nuclear weapons made to blow up the worl a hundred times over and raised MY taxes so he could keep his rich hollywood friends taxes at a minimum. He is NO hero nor should he be thought of as such, and G.W. Bush is right behind him (catching up fast I might add).


You may not agree but Clinton was a better Pres. than Reagan could ever be. His personal problems with cigars and all were pretty interesting but at least he was DOING for the country and not for a few powerful people. I guess thats what happens when the pres get alzheimers (spelling) and a woman is left in charge of the country. (I just couldn't resist this little joke,sorry)

Someone starts up a nice little remembrance thread about the passing of one of our nation's most loved leaders and as can be expected.....never mind. It's just typical, please let a grieving nation have, at least, this opportunity to remember him.
