When I was reloading programs onto my computer I really didn't want to load quicken but I did because even though I only use the account register it is a real help in the monthly budget. I looked in the add/remove programs and found that it was 142 mb big so I went looking for something smaller (I have sometimes wished for a simple DX checkbook). I found this program ( http://www.mechcad.net/products/acemoney/index_lite.shtml ). The lite version is free and it seems very good for someone like me with a simple budget. The pro version you can add more accounts... and there is a sale now. It only costs $30.

Quicken was about 142 mb big (installed), this one is around 3mb (installed). Quicken had lots of bells and whistles to be sure. But so does this little program.

I know there are a lot of young people here, a lot of students. I thought something like this might be helpful.
