I've got an iMac G3 500mhz, a PM G4 DP800, a PM G5 1.8GHz, and a PC 1.8GHZ AMD... and in all honesty, the 500mhz imac is much better overall than the pc. They both have the same 512mb ram, etc, but the PC just doesnt cut it... now all my comps have their strong points, but I'd give up the best PC in the world for a mac.
If you think there's less software for mac, that's not necessarily true... there are over 10,000 native Apps for mac os x, and all of these apps are widely known and used... for the pc there are about 50,000 but that's including apps and progs that no one uses, and like 1,000 word processors, etc. Every app I use on the pc is available on the mac, and I'm sure if you really think about it, that goes the same for many of you.
In the terms of paying more money, that is completely wrong altogether. The 1.8GHZ G5 cost me about $1600. If you want a PC that can even come close to the speed and performance of it, you'll need to spend just as much. NOT INCLUDING DIY MACHINES because if I could make a mac, it would be much less expensive too

... also, throw in maintenence and repairs which are much more frequent on PCs, and you've spent much more than what I have.
ALL IN ALL, the big difference for me is that the mac can do everything the pc can do, it lasts a hell of a lot longer than some craptastic 1 -year lifespan dell, and it looks a hell of a lot better. But, I really don't care what you choose to use...
HOWEVER, I do think it's very unfair to label us Mac users like this, I've had many discussions with people who use PCs, and who say macs suck when they've never used it.
The real reason we get defensive, is because so many PC users are ignorant of the truth, or just ignorant of the fact that Macs are just as good, if not better, than their precious PCs.
So stop saying "what's the deal with mac people" because PC users are worse.
