Does this look infected?

I've been using iTunes, and I've noticed that when I use my scroll wheel the music skips. To check things out I went to the Windows Task Manager (aka my good friend ctrl alt del), to see what was goin on when I noticed that the System Idle Process was using a whopping 80% of my cpu! Is this normal? My system is as follows:

AMD Athlon XP 1700+
384 MB of Ram
nVidia GeForce4 MX440se
Windows XP SP1

Could it be a virus?

system idle uses any cpu not being used so a system idle of 80% means that only 20% is being used. so no i don't think its a virus.

no, its just itunes.



itunes does some whacky things to a system.. for example, the windows powertoy that gives screenshot 'expose' function to alt-tab. doesn't like itunes. turns my computerinside out. also, i've had problems lately with itunes skipping and using an inordinate amount of resources. now and then i notice its using a @%!% load of handles. i still put up with it though.

like travis the - .. travis, the now Kong.. said, idle process doesn't hurt anything running. idle process is doing htings like optimizing your hard disk when it thinks you're not busy.

and iTunes does use an inordinant amount of memory and cpu. The strangest part of it all is that I have heard that it is more stable on the pc then the mac. Even on the pc its got some wierd irks. You probably just found one. While it doesn't do that to me, its probably some other piece of software on your computer interacting with itunes(probably the mouse driver if you don't use the one that comes with xp)

itunes is mad at me because i stuffed 4,500 mp3's into it within a 48 hour period.

Essencay jumps the first two barrels, climbs the ladder and grabs the mallet
Essencay did too much pixel dust and thinks he's in Travistendo's Travis the Kong
Gonna whack me a couple of them barrels now....mmm....pixel dust...

BTW...whenever you change your nick you lose your desktop in your profile, unless your desktop is a little white square with a big red X in the middle
