I think you can do it as a new user. If you logon as administrator and set up a new network connection/user from My Computer>Properties> you should be able to configure either a corporate or home network independently. I can't check that for certain as I'm on XPHome here.

Fuzzy: not sure what you mean.  How do I set up a new connection/user, not modify the existing computer name/network name?

Hey, this is the strangest thing... Although in My Computer/Properties, my computer is configured to connect to my work domain, I can still see my home network, although it's called MSHOME (which my work domain isn't).

I hadn't bothered checking before cause it makes no sense to me, but everything is fine I guess.   When I open My Network Places, I see all my home network shares, and if I go to Entire Network/Microsoft Windows Network, I see both my home workgroup and my work domain.  The only thing is that my laptop is only listed in the work domain and nobody in my home network can see me. But I see them, and that's the important.

Oh, an the bummer is that I can't use Logons anymore, even at home.

Yes Paxx your right, you don't need to have the same workgroup name with 2k or XP. You can still see your work notebook from your other computers by mapping the drive. (provided the username you use to map the drive has sufficient privileges)
ie: right click on my computer from the desktop (or 9x right click network places) and chose "map network drive". \\notebookname\shareddrive or \\notebookname\c$ XP automatically creates hidden shares on your machine the $ indicates the hidden share.
you would then click on the link that says "different user name"
ie: administrator and the password for that user on the notebook. If you do not have admin rights you can not map a hidden share ($) and what you can view on the notebook will be limited.

When logged on as Administrator go into My Computer properties > Computer Name > Network id and follow the wizard for each profile i.e. a corporate network and a home network.
You'll have to be connected to the network you are joining when doing this.
For the Corporate network you'll need your netlogon username and password, domain name, network Administrator username and password(the wizard prompts for this when it needs to authenticate joining to the network).
The home network should be easier. Never done one but I expect you'll need only a username, password and localhost domain name.

When you logon to windows with either username the logon dialogue box will have a dropdown box when you select 'Options' where you can select the domain you are joining.

I would stay away from the network setup wizard...at all costs. It's been a while since I've dealt with a workgroup, but if memory serves, when you belong to a domain and plug into a workgroup network with 9x systems, you can just use the shares in the workgroup without doing any authentication. Unless, of course, the workgroup share has a password on it. With 2000/XP systems in a worgroup, you need to have duplicate accounts (usernmae/password) on all machines.
