A relatively 'light-hearted' topic such as the AOL translator going off-topic is less of an issue than one which originated with an important subject of relevance to our community...[eg, my 'Editorial'].....though in that case accusations of 'power-mad' admins, etc sort of ties your hands.....damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Besides...[yes, THAT IS THE CORRECT WORD, Kona]...it was my own thread that was hijacked and I wasn't personally fazed.
It IS important though to respect the general direction or 'plot' of the subject as posted, otherwise it's akin to rudely interupting another's conversation.
It's the responsibility of everyone to keep things 'ontrack', not necessarily solely for admins to wade in banging heads, etc...
