any postal workers in here?

ive always wondered, are zip codes meaningless?

I do not work for the usps but I do know that the complete postal system relies on zip codes. They are the backbone of the whole thing we call mail.

WOM is a postal worker...

I don't think they are meaningless. BTW, haven't we proposed lots of money to do studies to assign zip codes to Iraq?

The 5 didit zip takes the letter to the city it belongs. The attitional 4 takes the letter to the street. So yes the Zip is important.

I've delievered letters with just the zip code and street without the address and I've delievered it, as I know all 700 peoples names that are on my route. Hope that answered your question.

Postal codes in the US existed before Zip codes. Postal codes are used in many nations to more efficiently facilitate the delivery of mail.

Weight wise, about 65 pds. Size wise, 5 ft x 3 ft x 1 ft.

The first three digits are the postal code the last 2 are the mail hub's number I believe, like a marker of origin.

65 lb? On your route? Methinks that'd get a tad heavy, especially for an old feller like yourself.
