Since I'm one of the guilty parties, maybe it would help if I told you why?
I simply got faked out. I saw the "GalCiv" tab, the two "GC tabs after that, and then the 3 "WC" tabs. I'm guessing now that "WC" stands for WinCustomize - when I first looked at it I thought it was some other piece of software like "GC" because I was thinking in terms of WindowBlinds or Stardock Central. I went for "Documentation" which wasn't what I was looking for, then "Discussion" and saw the skinning conversations and thought I was there.
Now admittedly folks I'm not the sharpest tack in the pack, but I'm not the dullest either
So keeping my own stupidity in mind, I guess I might've done better if:
There were a clear section in "Documentation" about board use. or
"WC Help" were replaced by "Stardock Help" or something. or
There were a tab "Message Board Use" or such with usage guidelines describing the sections. or
There were guidelines that popped up when you clicked on a tab which described the various sections. or
A cover page for the forums with more descriptive links that I could choose from.
I'm not being defensive or snitty, and I'm not taking the whole thing personally. I just saw this post and went "Duh, they're talking about people like me," so I'm letting you know how I ended up going to the wrong place so maybe it can be fixed. I really don't know how difficult it would be to do any of these, maybe it would be easier to put the selective "cover page" into this software on the local computer instead of redoing the server boards.
So anyway, sorry about my posting a couple of questions in the wrong place, I'll do better from now on, and thanks to those who replied. WOM, I'd guess that when you said "a lot of people still do not understand" you were exactly right. And, thanks for bringing it up, or I would've probably continued. Any maybe by keeping this string up at the top a few more people like me might read it and go "oops"?
