Sorry to say you are not understanding correctly. Something in the install routine does not like the user to have mapped drives. As I said if I run the previous command and then run the install it installs properly and in the proper location. There is no need to perform the "PURGE".
Update: So, for SAG I follow the directions given and reboot the machine. I then start the install and it fails

I then run the following command even though the H: drive does exist and is a network attached drive

The install completes. However, at the popup for activation none of the buttons work and I have to kill the process and cannot enjoy this new software.
