Doesn't work on firefox

Hello,

I just installed this program. It doesn't work on Firefox, simply dragging 1 windows on top another doesn't work! I also read you have to hold win button, but didn't get it. No idea how to make this work, there is no tutorial. I checked FAQ, but it wasn't very helpful...

It does work with explorer, but only when I set: "group only when shift is pressed". It doesn't work when set to: "group when I move windows on each other"...

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.Need to know more on your system and issue.

Windows version, please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.
Is it does not work only with Firefox or any program other than Windows Explorer?

2. It doesn't work only with Firefox, it worked with explorer, I tried yet pdf reader to be sure. It seems it is only Firefox.

3. setting ref. to picture, also there is some bug, text is not fully visible and some is hidden behind edge of the window. Happens in other menus in the program too. This is trial of groupy FYI.

For the text bug Need to check what is your display scaling setting? 100%, 150% etc? And are you on none English display language? And does the issue still there after reboot?.

On Firefox, just make sure to drag on the Firefox's titlebar not on its tabs, when you want to group it with another applications. So if you want to group a web page. You need first drag the tabs away from the Firefox group into a new Windows. Than once you get it separated. Click on the titlebar and move it over another application or another Firefox windows, while shift press down, as you selected above.

I use default 100% DPI. I Am on EN - Philippines. Yes it persist after reboot. It is not end of the world, as far as I get what it says. I need just to make program work with FF currently!

It worked once for FF, but now other 100 times it didn't - I have no idea how I did that...

That is the a huge problem! Because I have 1000 tabs total. I can't drag them all out and then do that... It would take forever! Whole point I installed this program. So I can reorder my FF windows, so I can easily discern them.

Update:

I clicked on 3 dots in firefox and it also allows to automatically group all windows, but it doesn't work for already existing ones... I had to try like 500 times. I tried different setting - didn't help. It came to: that you have to click to window at highest possible place - at title bar (as you said) and drag it slightly above existing window's title bar and then down and release shift at the same time... So now it is all good!

Also how to disable showing X buttons for inactive windows - I have this already set in groupy. But only hovering above inactive shows X buttons. I don't want to show X buttons unless window is active.

HUGE PROBLEM!!! It doesn't remember position of Firefox windows after Firefox restart, firefox is not set to run on background! Also it doesn't remember custom titles I gave them :///

I ordered FF windows using groupy like this for instance. But after next launch - order won't be the same, as it doesn't remember! Also window titles I gave them disappear, after FF restart!

For a moment, forget about the tab renaming and order of the tabs, we just want to work on getting the grouping working.

It should save automatically no? There was already saved entry: "Firefox", but folder opened in explorer and there was nothing!

Then I don't know why there was saved group "Firefox" and behind it written - Automatically group. Why it wouldn't save automatically? Do you need to save it each time? Or once group is created, it will save automatically future changes?

Still it doesn't work... I saved my group and opened it from explorer, after closing Firefox... Firefox was completely bugged! Only 4 from 13 windows loaded and other windows opened empty. All windows resized to a small rectangle and I couldn't even open them, as nothing happened when I clicked on any of them...

I also tried to disable automatic grouping and delete automatic entry in groupy, same problem. Only when I started Firefox windows weren't grouped...

To that bug: I tried to close all windows and that's when I noticed: all windows stuffed to 1 window. I saw 2 title bars - on which are tabs. And I pressed ctrl+w and window didn't close, then I realized multiple windows were stuffed into 1 window.

From the video, Groupy (from a saved group) appears to be doing what it is supposed to; open the 4 FF instances you had open. Groupy will not open up the multiple tabs that were open on each.

Where they single tabs, at specific web addresses, it would have opened them to those pages.

Huh? Except it opened 5 (second time)! From them - 3 windows were empty! Not to mention sometimes 10 windows are stuffed into 1 window. If I close whole window, it doesn't disappear from taskbar and another window appear instead of previous window in its place! I have also some bugs!

Groupy does not save locations for webbrowsers and never has done.

It can only remember files open for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and folders open in explorer. Additionally it will remember command lines used to open apps, so a document opened by double clicking on its file will often get saved as it is part of the command line. Opening a document in an already open app will not be saved unless it is one of the supported apps.

Unless an application has a reliable documented way to get the open file from a given window it is not possible for groupy to know this information.

Define locations. I thought groupy was supposed to group windows like tabs and remember their order. Next time I open firefox, normally: I would expect 4 same windows to open, not 2 windows and 3 empty windows (I didnt have before).

But it wasn't document in already opened app, we are talking about firefox windows. When I open firefox it should open same windows each time, no matter what! My understanding of what Groupy does is that should remember order of opened windows and so they appear grouped as tabs. It works on automatic (not order tho). But sdRohan wanted me to create group manually, so I tried it and now I Am telling you it doesn't work.

Groupy does indeed group applications as tabs.

But it cannot know internals about an application. So for example a web browser may have a specific web page open but this information is not available to Groupy. So on reopen it can only reopen the application not the document / webpage the application has open. What this means is every single firefox window for example looks identical to Groupy. The only difference being the caption text which changes based on the page.

This is not the case with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and explorer windows which have documented ways to obtain the information Groupy requires.
