As of this Friday Yahoo groups are going to disallow all attachments in the message archives. This means anyone who wishes to see attachments must receive e-mail. Being a photographer/artist I'm in a large number of picture groups (OK, I'll admit to the Buffy group too...), all of which I see on-line. I've now changed my options to e-mail rather than view on-line. Despite only getting e-mail from a quarter of my groups (Yahoo aren't coping too well...!), I've had close on 200 e-mails today - who knows what next week will bring.
Somehow, judging by the increase in e-mail traffic, I can't help feeling they have made a gigantic mistake. Instead of decreasing storage their bandwidth has 'popped'. I have this odd feeling Yahoo is about to hit the dirt.
But then it is a free service...
BTW, on a personal note, I lost my moderator status on the Buffy group this week - guess I should have spent more time there
