I installed the initial version before the bug was fixed. I've been hibernating this PC for years so there is no question that it was set to show in Windows I'm now hibernating using the Windows 10 menu on this PC.
I observed on this forum that others were having the same problem, e.g. hibernate not an option through Shutdown, and that a fix was in the works. I believed I could go through the normal Start10 update process when the fix was made, i.e. open START10, click "About," then click "Check for update." The response, "No updates for Start10 have been found." I just tried again on this PC running the initial version of 1.8 and get the same results and still do not have hibernate showing. Suggesting a download that had issues as documented in the forum and I also experienced, was not a good idea.
From your reply it appears the updated module is now on-line so that when a "check for update" or Start10 automated check is performed, the "fixed" version is installed. It seems all that had to be done to avoid this frustration was to change the on-line version number or set a forced update so the normal update process would occur. I did not have the issues of others that hibernate was not enabled.
I was in the software business for many years and had I taken your route, I'd probably be looking for a job. When something was broke, we were expected to fix it and make it easy for users to apply that fix.
Perhaps I set my expectations for Stardock too high. This may seem to be a trivial problem but when it is a function I use and need, it is not trivial. And when it is a company I have relied on and trusted for nearly seven years, those attributes erode.
