Below you find some of the chat policies. It will be a part of the Chat Tutorial of one of the next versions of SDC or WCB.
Chat policies
We want to make your use of IRC as pleasant as we possibly can. In order to avoid confusion and minimize the potential for abuse, we do have some rules and regulations. They are really very simple. Behave yourself. Don't offer or ask for serial numbers. Do not promote or advertise warez products or sites. We don't allow idling (i.e. visiting the server without chatting). We do not allow bots (automated devices that can communicate through IRC) or aggressive scripts. These rules are being applied by channel operators and IRC operators. Offenders will be either kicked, killed, banned or klined. You will not be warned and there will be no online discussion. If you feel you are not fairly treated you can contact
support@stardock.com.
Moderators
The server is run by 9 server administrators (IRC operators or IRCops). Each channel has one or more channel operators (ops).
IRC operators (IRCops)
The following people are the server operators
Anaxis
Cari_Elf_Maiden
ed
Furan
GreenReaper
MadIce
Midnight_Louie
Nakor
Sander
Can you become an IRCop? No. They are selected by one of the other IRCops when needed. Why is Frogboy not an IRCop? Odd. We don’t know. He used to be one.
Channel operators (ops)
Each channel operator may have his own local customs or policies, however they all must respect and abide by the general policies mentioned under Chat Policies. Channel operators are known as ops. The creator of the channel determines who the initial ops are and ops can select other ops. One does not ask for ops. One is given ops. Ops are usually Stardock customers that are very active users and chatters. Depending on the channel you visit you will see some familiar names.
Kicking
An operator can remove you from a channel and allow you to return. A kick can be a warning or can be part of a joke. In the latter situation it helps if you can take a joke.
Killing
A server operator can disconnect you from the server and allow you to return. It works much like kicking, but kicks you from all channels you are on.
Banning
You can be banned from a given channel for a given amount of time. This can be seconds or indefinitely and any duration in between.
K-lining (klining)
You can be banned from a server for a given amount of time. This can be seconds or indefinitely and any duration in between.
