Couple questions

I have a couple of questions.

1: How do I go about updating Stardock DeskScapes without losing any of my Dreams?

2: How can I relocate where DeskScapes is installed onto my SSD, my HDD is holding back it's performance I believe.

Hello,

1 - Here's the path the dreams are stored C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\Dreams

you can copy and paste them into a folder and save / store for a backup.

2 - Deskscapes must be installed to it's normal path .

3 - I make and run many dreams on HDD and they run just fine not sure you'll see much

difference with SSD, I haven't tried that so you could report back if there is a difference.

SSD is Fast boot and shut down , dreams should run the same though on both drives I think.

When you preview a dream within DeskScapes, the dream file (.dream) is extracted to (and remains on) a directory on the C drive. That's where the dream is read from when you run it. So it really doesn't matter where you store the .dream files, other than space usage and perhaps the initial extraction, you're running the dreams from the C drive.

You do need to leave the .dream files saved in the directory that you've chosen though, because that's where Deskscapes looks to know the dreams exist. Otherwise it doesn't know they are there even though the extracted files remain on the C drive. You can move them to a different drive or directory and then add that path within DeskScapes, but the .dream files to need to remain.

They do tend to turn into a lot of gigs, it's good to understand how they work.

Thanks for the responses, the issue I'm having with my dreams is whenever I close out a window and return to my desktop they freeze for a few seconds, before starting back up again, and other times they stutter while trying to resume. Wasn't sure if moving them to a faster drive would help void this issue or not.

Hello,

Deskscape is designed to stop running in the background whenever you open

a window full screen . When you close the windows Deskscapes restarts itself.

So you might see that stop and restart of the dream.

With an SSD drive the dream will still stop and restart maybe a tad bit faster

and maybe not .

Hope your Installing a SSD drive for other reasons though.

Your present HHD drive may be faulty in some way causing you some issues.

You can try a try a Clean Boot so Deskscapes can run without any other apps

running and see how it works for you in case their is an app. causing you a problem.
