I have spent the past few days trying to install Fences 3.0.5.11. I am running Windows 10.
I was having problems with Fences: individual fences on the wrong display screen, unable to create new fences.
I tried downloading what I understood was a new version of Fences, 3.0.5.11, which was supposed to have some recent updates. My understanding was that I had to repurchase the new version, which I did for $6.49.
When I tried to install Fences 3.0.5.11, I received the following messages:
"The uninstall executable file could not be written out because it is already in use. Close all running uninstalls and click Retry to continue. Click Cancel to abort."
After clicking Cancel, the following message appeared:
"Could not open the uninstall executable for writing: Encountered a sharing violation while accessing C:\Program files (86)\Stardock\Fences\lua5.21.dll.
C:\Program Files (86)\Stardock\Fences\uninstall.exe"
I tried running Purge_Fences.bat several times, and the last time seemed to make a difference.
Fences is now working normally, if slowly. The fences are staying on the same screen, and I can now create new fences.
However, Fences does not appear in the Windows 10 list of programs to uninstall.
Fences also does not appear as a selection on the Windows 10 App list.
Does this indicate a problem?
