Two cursors with CursorFX

Hi,

I have installed CursorFX however the Windows cursor does not disappear when I apply a CursorFX theme and so I have two cursors moving together on my screen.  If I press Ctrl-Shift-C then the CursorFX cursor disappears and the Windows cursor remains on its own however I cannot get the Windows one to disappear. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling CursorFX to no avail.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I have contacted them in Dec 2017. Still no fix for this issue yet?

Half the time I log in its 2 pointers and the other half its not. frustrating to say the least!

I've run that bat file and reinstalled several times when this happens and it still doesn't fix the problem. I also have reinstalled Windows and the problem is still there, showing the windows cursor on top of the fx cursor.

I'm in the same boat. When I first installed, everything was great - only the Cursor FX cursor, but after I rebooted, now I get the dual cursors. I'm running Windows 10 ver 1803 and Cursor FX is 2.16.

The bat file uninstalls, but after I re-install, the problem comes back.

Yeah, the bat file doesn't do squat. It's some sort of bug in the code that doesn't refresh the cursor change. I get it at random times, like when I add/remove a monitor or something resizes my window like the Windows smartscreen or a game that runs a different resolution than my native desktop res. 

 

What I usually do is just go back to the Windows default cursor and then change back to the custom after a reboot or shutdown. Sometimes it works as intended and sometimes not. I wish I had access to the source code since Stardock seems to have no desire to look into the problem.

After install it works fine.

Now I'll restart will see if it fixed it for good, but...

Yes, try 125% and see if it helps. I believe, Stardock is aware of the issue and currently looking into it.

It didn't help.

I've changed to 125% first restart was okay and looked fine.

Afterwards new restart, I see double cursor.

I've changed it back to 175%, restart

It works again.

Next restart it doesn't.

Who understand this hehe.

Hi,

Any official update on this? I've reinstalled my surface (for other reasons) and wondering if there are new beta versions maybe for purchased CursorFX so I can try that out? I've yet to install cursorfx and the rest of my stardock products on this install, so I'm wondering if the double cursor issue been fixed already?

I'm fairly sure that the default cursor "driver" initializes much much earlier prior CursorFX and somehow cursorFX got no permission to get rid of the default windows cursor? At least logically this is how it looks. During windows load, I saw the cursor way before anything else, just the loading screen and the mouse already were initialized, this might be something to do with the surface's ability to be used as a tablet thus the touchscreen and cursor needs to be initialized early?

Seems the 1809 Windows update fixed the double cursor issue on my surface.

I'm very happy to be honest.

The only issue remains is the RDP cursor is not replaced. Can you somehow force update the mouse cursor so the RDB app shows the nice cursorfx graph?

Hi,

just to report an RDP cursor issue:

When using join.me screen sharing program, there are two cursors (windows default and CursorFX) on top of each other at the remote end. Locally the cursor works as advertised. Hmmm, strange...

This is most annoying, because I purchased CursorFX in order to improve my remote presentations for potential customers...

I am working on Windows 10 Pro version 1803 os build 17134.407

But otherwise CursorFX works great : ) Hopefully you can fix this double cursor issue in the near future.

In my case a possible workaround might be to make the windows default cursor extremely small, almost invisible.
