I've not been feeling so great over the last few days: what with vertigo, flu symptoms and aches all over.... the after affects of a few 8.5% ginger beers, but I still needed to get out and mow the lawns before they got out of control from the recent wet weather.... and so I did.
I'm sorrier for it now, though. While I'm pleased with the result, a nicely cropped lawn that'll be easier to cut next time, I'm suffering a lot of pain and soreness in my muscles and joints, particularly in my right hip and knee... hence my being a little one legged right now.
I can barely bear weight on my right leg at the moment, so I'm limping along like Long John Silver.... arrrrgghh, me hearties, me peg leg be givin' me pain. And I do have some fairly decent pain meds that'd help with that, but then there's 4 more litres of 8.5% ginger beer, and it does taste somewhat better than codeine.
Anyhow, back to the arse kicking! My daughter was here with her 5 kids and that was a recipe for noise, mischief and other undesirable behaviour. Yup, each of 'em needed a swift kick up the backside every now and then, and they probably would have gotten it if they hadn't worked out just how one-legged I was. Hehe, they had worked it out that I'd end up on my backside if I tried, so they remained just out of reach.... but still close enough to taunt me some, the sassy li'l buggers they are.
Seriously, they can be a bit of a handful, which is understandable when you have five kids ranging from 4 to 12, but they are actually quite well behaved when they're here. I've had reason to speak with each of them on occasion, sometimes with a raised voice to show my displeasure, but for the most part I can't complain.
In fact, their being here today was really great after not seeing them for a while, and now that I'm thinking about them, the pain in my hip, knee and back is nowhere near as bad. So yeah, kids help keep you young and work okay as an anti-inflammatory.
As for the 8.5% ginger beer, well I'm having a cuppa right now [tea], but the ginger beer is a nice drop, despite having a kick like a mule. It is something one does in moderation, and I'll know to do that next time. A couple of nights ago I had three 500ml glasses and woke up feeling a bit seedy in the morning, which on top of waking with vertigo is not at all pleasant. Oh well, we learn by our mistakes.
