Gosh...a lot of the attitudes expressed here make me a bit 'sad'.....as soon as money/purchase comes into the equation, so does vitriolic indignation.

How about some polite professionalism on the part of the 'customer'?
I guess it's all about whether you actually have gotten to know those involved in the creation/distribution of this work. Had you done so, and followed appropriate lines of query/problem-solving [issue resolution], you would have found those involved are NOT the 'Evil Roy Slade' that you infer.
Sure, be peeved about problems you have found on your comp [which others may not have found]. Voice concerns. Seek advice.
Just try and keep it all in perspective and exercise polite restraint...
