Brian you won't find any videos that will be of any help using SKS (skinstudio) to build a Windowblind. There are a couple older tutorials as you found that will help a little bit.
One thing that may help you a bit is open a skin in SKS. On the left side open "Theme part details" This will at least help a small amount to let you know what some of the parts do and are located. Other then that it's a lot of trial to find out what you want to do.
It's no easy task but with lots of looking around and messing around one can figure out things. If you are really going to get into it there are people here that will be happy to answer specific questions for you.
