We were friends to begin with; For years. She even got married while we were best friends and had a child. The marraige was abusive and she was not 'allowed' to talk to me (or anyone else for that matter)

She left him and then I reluctanly befriended her again, but because I lost her as a friend to a guy, I thought, "hey why don't I be your guy?" Besides that I loved her to much to be anything less than a life partner.

for a person to be a friend, for me at least, there must be a certain level of emotional payment on my part for what I will allow myself to put into the relationship. To me this
does in fact equate to *love*... So, to say that there can not be love if there is to be
a friendship is foriegn to say the least...
