Well, I searched and searched, and I can't find a way to disable tool tips. Best I can see is that in X-setup, there is an option to uncheck showing tool tips on the desktop and in explorer. http://www.xteq.com/

Boot-XP Pro has iot as a function also...

I had turned it off and did the registry edit and it seemed to work, then when I rebooted the damn thing was enabled again...

there has to be another key for it in another hive, just have to find it I guess...

ugh

I wound up going into view under Folder Options and got it turned off on the start menu and desktop anyway. Tweak UI or the manual registry hack don't seem to be working for the taskbar items but that is ok. I have gotten rid of 85% of them. Thanks for your help. I was terribly sick yesterday and couldn't remember how it was done. Better now.
