ObjectDock question/suggestion

I hazily recall from when I tried DesktopX (or was it object bar?) a year or more ago that I could set margins around the screen so that when I maximized a window, it wouldn't cover certain parts of the screen.

At any rate, is there way to set windows so they won't maximize into the area taken up by the ObjectDock? This is a very important feature for me.

What's odd is that sometimes my windows will open maximized, and other times in a resized way. What's odd, is that the resized windows are actually just slightly larger than the maximized windows. If I resize them to be small, the next time I open them they are even larger than they used to be.

Hey aqua....

Go to the DesktopX configuration screen. There's a tab called theme settings. Within that tab (at the top) there's an area labelled 'Reduce Desk Area'. Those are the settings you are looking for.

If you objectbar is 100 pixels high and located at the bottom of the screen, then enter a 100 in the bottom field.

This should have the effect you want.

I was hoping to get it done without having to resort to DesktopX (since I use the 3DNA desktop replacement) but if that is what must be done, so be it

Thanks for pointing my nose at where to go just in case I DO go that route.

In the meantime, that is a really useful function to include in ObjectDock. Does anyone know how to contact the devs to suggest this?

They usually check the newsgroups and can sometimes be found on the IRC char #stardock channel. Other than that, stardock.com would be my suggestion.

yeah....click on the chat icon just to your left (below the 'discussion' icon) on the WinCustomize browser. Once you're there type /join #stardock (in the small entry field near the bottom of the page) and press enter. you'll see a 'stardock' tab at the top of the active window. click on it and you're there...

Just enter your question in the same small entry field and if anyone's there they'll answer. Make sure to say hello first.

Aqua: are you thinking of running DesktopX and 3dna at the same time? I don't know if this is a good idea if that is what you intended to do. I'm not sure they will play nicely together!

Nope hehe they don't.

Also found that ObjectBar and 3DNA don't play nice tohether either. (I only have 32Mb video ram)
