dragging a link or menu item over another...

Some links like "This PC" (Computer), Pictures, Videos... etc can be dragged over another link...

If one drags Pictures over to Videos will the contents of pictures be moved to Videos. (probably a rhetorical question.)

Any way to prevent this. I can see someone dragging my E: external drive's contents into my picture folder!

Further note. a top level folder like videos dragged over say downloads indicates that it will be "moved to" but nothing seems to happen.

dragging a custom item icon, e:\ (my external drive) over This PC seems to start a copy process which I hastened to stop. There was no confirmation.

The only thing I can think is that the top level folders pictures, documents, music, are protected whereas folders on the external are not.

The question is if accidentally 80 gigs of info will be xcopied. This would be a fine process for a file manager but i feel it should not happen on the menu. I would think that pulling the icon from here to there would change the icon location on the menu but it should not start a cascading copy session. Dangerous or what?
