This is a feature request.

My desktop is covered with running applications (word, browsers, etc...).  Often I need to access a file/shortcut that I have defined in a fence.  I know I can "show desktop", but as soon as I interact with the desktop, I have to bring back the individual apps one at a time (they're minimized).  A better alternative would be to identify certain fences that can be brought to the top of the viewing order to interact with, then sent back to the desktop.  When the fence is brought forward, using a hot-key or some other method, simply solid fill the background of the fence, allow the user to interact with it, then send it back when the user is done with it.
