things get screwy when you try and count actually bits and bytes because of the lack in standards across the board in the beginning.
There is also the Hype factor, I have a 1.5 mbit dedicated DSL link, yet it only get from 1.2 - 1.0 through put of pure ethernet traffic, the remainder is overhead...
