Do you believe in magic?

The older people here may remember a group from the 60's called "The Lovin' Spoonful". One of the original members, Zal Yanovsky, retired to our small comunity here in Kingston. Unfortunately, he passed away Saturday from a heart attack.

I knew him very casually, since he owned and operated a local restaurant that I frequent.

Our little community will miss him.

I remember them too,I read about Zal in the paper today...57 i think...still quite young

Yeah WOM, the article does show all the twists and turns people take throughout their lives. Just makes you reflect on your own life. Kind of a melancholy thought for this time of year, but, oh well.

57, 58 somewhere around that age. Funny, I had just seen him out walking just a short time ago.

I'm insired to dig drop a few pounds and dig out my old hockey skates...go out and get some exercise. I've already had one heart attack. In my present shape, don't know if I could survive another.

It does make you think.

I believe in regular exercize, good diet and vitamins and natural supplements.
I work out three times a week at my health club, and thank God, my health is very good...

Yes, I'am 55 and get a lot of walking, 5-8 miles a day. I quit those 60's things a long time ago. My one stupid thing that I can't or don't want to quit is smoking. But so far it hasn't hurt me yet. Chop some wood, go for long (fast) walks will help.

I do 'clever' things like waiting till it's 40 degrees and then going for a bike ride...
Going to be about 40 this Saturday...will probably do about 50k...and sweat bucket loads in the process.
[No heart attacks for me, though]...

Up until my heart attack a few years ago, I played hockey an average of 3 times a week. Jogged once a week, and worked out on our home equipment nightly. Since the attack I slowed down to just the nightly workout. (Although my wife and I walk our dog for an hour every night.)

I quit smoking after the attack, (2 packs a day) and thus my appetite increased. Toss in sitting at a computer for extended perios of time doing this unusual pastime called skinning and that accounts for the extra pounds.

Aerobic exercize is extremely important as you get older...
Keeps the heart, lungs and circulatory system functioning properly.

Motion, the wife sits in fron of her computer 10-14 hours a day and is only 95-105 pds. She does smoke and drink DP's, but doesn't eat much.

My father smoked two or three packs of unfiltered cigarettes a day when he was younger, quit smoking many years ago, he is now 76 years old and is on oxygen. I'm afraid he's not much longer for this world, and it scares bloody hell out of me....

My DAD is A Diabetic and will not take care of himself like he is supposed to, He has had two strokes and a heart attack and now hes heart is failing him. The many years of drinking and smoking has taken its toll on him...He is 54
