Self-installing applications seem to have some conflict with WB 3.5

Since I installed WB3.5 I have had problems installing new programs. I get a windows error and then the installation process stops and closes. It is fine once I unload WB. Happens with a variety of skins. Think I need to exclude that windows process (it is with self-installing applications) that installs things. Is there a way to do that, or some other adjustment to make?

XP home edition.

I don't think that WindowBlinds or skins have anything to do with the instalation of programs. It must be something else. I never had this problem.
The only thing I can suggest, is to put a fresh copy of Windows XP with a fresh format of your Hard Disk, after you have back-up your important files, e-mail addresses, favorites, your works etc. with the help of "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard". The all process is only one hour

I don't think I'd be reformatting just yet, if unloading WindowBlinds solves the problem.
Have you contacted stardock support on this? That's where I would start.

Who said that it is a WB problem?
GM, I guess, think's that it is a WB problem... she is not sure and it doesn't look for me as WB problem

Hi everyone! Thanks adni18... I could probably use a good format (I had a couple of ungraceful uninstalls). This only happens when I have a new program to install. No other program is having troubles.

Though I did try Object Doc and uninstall it. Now I am getting messages that it is having troubles shutting down. Maybe I try installing it again and then taking it out again.

I do regular virus scans, scan my incoming and outgoing mail, and any hint of suspicious behavior. Maybe I will do an online scan...

It could be low RAM, though the numbers look good.

You said you don't have the problem when you unload WB........... so why not start there and not assume the worst?

Right...

And this is a new good reason to go buy some new RAM!

I also have too many programs in my start up so I will work on thinning them. Some of them keep coming back!

I had been considering how to exclude that windows application from WB. But the more I think about doing anything to the windows system files the worse idea it seems.
