I installed fences a few days ago and it worked fine. A few days later, I restart my computer and Fences stops working (I have restarted before and it continued to work prior to this restart.) I did not install any applications after Fences (though I did after it already stopped working.) When I would open the customisation application, it would return an error stating that Fences failed to launch and suggested to reïnstall. I tried reïnstalling several times, first without and then with Revo Uninstaller, but this was all futile. The only thing that works with Fences is the customisation/option application; I can not make fences, quick hide, etc.
I noticed that upon installation, the installer notifies me of a reboot requirement. I do not recall seeing such notification on my first install, which opened fences right away and allowed me to make fences.
I've had almost the exact same problem years ago with Fences 1, which did not get resolved. I don't understand why Fences would refuse to work after I did a clean uninstall. The only reason I could think of is that there is some file or registry entry that needs to be modified or removed that is being left behind.
This was a response to someone having similar issues:
Fences runs with a .dll file that gets loaded into explorer. This is what it is reporting is not loaded. Make sure you have the file DesktopDock.dll (DesktopDock64.dll for 64 bit machines) installed. Also, is anything running on the system that would unload this, such as another desktop enhancement software?
How can I make sure DesktopDock64.dll is getting loaded at start up? Can I somehow force it to load?
Please help me! Thank you!
