I suffer from the same problem, and the tips don't solve it. I use my computer mainly for working, so I put the dock where I can most easily access it. That is the bottom of the main screen. But as it would be covering parts of the desktop or the office software I use, I set the dock to "Autohide". I tried setting up the dock in several other ways, but this is the method that best reflects my workflow.
Problem is, in my spare time, I also play video games. And in some videogames, the mouse cursor is used to reposition the camera of the game. If the mouse cursor touches the edge of the screen, the dock comes up in front of the game, which is really annoying and can be game breaking. For instance, in order to play Dota2 smoothly, I have to shut down Object Dock.
So I would also prefer a hotkey or a means to configure Object Dock (e.g. "don't pop up dock while in DirectX mode").
ect Dock (e.g. "don't pop up dock while in DirectX mode").
