ObjectDock keeps freezing

I have today purchased ObjectDock to replace RocketDock which I have used for quite a while.

I needed a stack docklet, and post hxxp://forums.stardock.com/453274/page/1/#3461826 suggested using the stacks docklet.

The OP then asked where this may be obtained, but received no reply. I therefore decided to try the RocketDock stack docklet

which seems to work fine.

Unfortunately, however, after a few minute the ObjectDock seems to freeze. I still have access to the stack docklet items,

but after the icon zooms out it does not return. Also the autohide doesn't work. All stacks and icons work fine but after one

remains 'sticking out' from the dock there is no icon animation or autohide.

Can you advise?

RocketDock seem is discontinued awhile,therefore its plugins maybe be outdated. But have you try this one yet? http://rocketdock.com/addon/docklets/22757?p=1

Try uninstalling Objectdock, run CCleaner if you have it, reboot then re-install Objectdock. Sometimes this helps.

Try using the stand alone Stacks docklet. I used it with great success on OD v.2

Thanks for the advice, but it made no difference. ObjectDock still froze.

Each stack docklet points to a folder containing shortcuts to the programs I wish to associate with that

docklet. When ObjectDock freezes, it seems to be only the interface, since I still have access to the other icons on the dock and can run any

of the programs, whether in a stack or directly on the dock. This does not apply to VirtualBox, the shortcut to which

is in a folder containing other miscellaneous shortcuts. When I select to run VirtualBox I get the dialog

C:\ObjectDockProgs\Misc\VirtualBox.lnk

The specified path does not exist

Check the path, and then try again.

If I double click the shortcut directly in the folder, however, VirtualBox opens and runs fine.

I don't think that this is an ObjectDock problem alone, however, because I get the same thing with

RocketDock.

I have seen this happen if a shortcut within a stack dock no longer points to an existing program. For example, if you have uninstalled one of the programs in your stack you'll have to manually remove the shortcut from the folder.

I have checked and every shortcut within all folders is valid. All programs start ok if double

clicked in the folder or selected in ObjectDock (again excepting VirtualBox, shortcut now removed

from folder).

ObjectDock interface still freezes but still allows access to programs.

VirtualBox problem may be explained as in h**p://forums.stardock.com/451852.

However, I also have shortcuts to the 64-bit versions of ACDSee Pro 6 and Serif PagePlus 7 in folders, and they open ok.

ObjectDock still freezes, gone back to RocketDock in the meantime.

I have tried ObjectDock again, an discovered that it freezes every time if I select a stack docklet

then select another stack docklet without actually running a program from the first.

Next time it freezes, check the Task Manager to see if it's consuming any CPU. Mine will sometimes grab 25% and will temporarily freeze. But it's not specifically for stack docks, but for even just accessing the icons.

Task manager shows ObjectDock using 0 CPU.

As I said, I can still access programs through the dock icons or stack docklets, but there

is no animation of the dock icons and no autohide.

Hi scbs29 I have this exact same problem.When it freezes I let it set there for about 30 secs and it comes right back a small irritation but it does come back just have to be a little patient. It seems to do it every time I bring up the O.D UI especially with Window Blinds. Don't understand why it does this a pain in the butt sometimes but it does always comes back. gevansmd is right about one thing during the freeze up it does consume about 25% of CPU usage. I sure hope someone finds an answer to this ongoing dilemma.

It seems that it is a known problem, so I will go back to RocketDock.

Maybe I will return to ObjectDock when it is sorted.

BTW, I tried leaving it, but after 1/2 hour it was still the same so I quit.

The only thing close to my problem was item 2.

You are all aware that StackDocklet and Standalone stack are out of development since 2009 ? Who knows which system updates changed what since then...
