After installing WindowBlinds, occasionally, when I do something that requires UAC to open a window to request permission, my machine no longer can sign out, shutdown, or restart, and no response to CTRL-ALT-DEL. Even "shutdown /s /f" from an administrative cmd will not shutdown the computer. Programs continue to run normally...
This occurs both in my admin account where only service level programs run as well as my regular user account. This issue just occurred again this morning when I was uninstalling Java 7.
Dell Precision 6700 running updated windows 8.1, Nvidia K3000M & Intel 4000 graphics drivers.
(Most of the Stardock customization services that come with the subscription are also running but this issue started only after installing WindowBlinds.)
...the only options when this situation occurs is:
If I am in admin account, I can kill a critical window process which does successfully force the computer to shutdown.
If I am in a regular user account, I can select another user from the start menu, then select shutdown on the sign-in screen...the computer does NOT properly shutdown (no "shutting down" message displayed and never powers off) in this case...requires a hard power off--and then triggers the win8 auto-repair upon reboot.
Anyone else ever see behavior like this?
Suggestions?
Thanks, Chad
