In the commercial build up to it they said there would be "Limited Commercial Interruption"...and they were right...the commercials were hardly interrupted by the actual program.
Dontcha just hate that.... 12 minutes of show [including beginning and end credits] and 20 minutes of ads. I timed one of our 30 minute soapies one night while Shaunna was watching.... the point of the exercise being to convince her to save 2 1/2 hours a week and record the 5 weekly episodes, which she could then sit down and watch in under an hour by skipping all the commercials and unwanted content.
Anyway, to cut a much longer story short by an hour or three [I'll leave out all the reasons why not], from the start of brand new content to the end of new content [cutting out commercials along the way], we ended up with 11.3 minutes of new footage on the recording, which back to back can be watched in just over half an hour. Still didn't convince her, though.... maybe it was the 2 1/2 hours sitting down time?
So, yes, The Vikings! I have seen the 1st season and quite enjoyed it, so the 2nd season is a must... when it's aired here, that is. Often we have weeks or even months to wait on free-to-air for offshore TV series, so hopefully it's not that long this time. In fact, some shows I'd like to see never get aired here, which is when I resort to buying the DVDs or Blurays, even if I have to get them imported through this specialty store when mainstream stores see fit not to carry them. Luckily, I now have satellite TV through Foxtel and will not miss as many of those shows.
The show I'm most waiting for is Game of Thrones when it resumes in April. Now that is my kind of TV, eons away in time and space to break up the monotony of the real world and all its woes. Da Vinci's Demons is another I'm waiting on, set back in time and full of mystery and fantasy to breeze me away from reality for an hour or so.
Yup, sci-fi and fantasy, can't live without 'em.
