Can WindowBlinds slow down my system?

Usint it together with ObjectDock?

Hi,

I currently have ObjectDock (purchased - full version) installed, and all is working fine.

I have the below configuration:

- Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits

- 8 GB RAM DDR3

- NVIDIA GTX 460 V2 GDDR5 1GB GPU

- Intel Core i5 2300 processor

I'm very inclined to purchase WindowBlinds, but I'm afraid it can slow down my system. Can it happens? Or can I use it together with ObjectDock without any problem?

I'm also preocuppied with the "themes" detail. Supposing I purchase and install WindowBlinds. I'll start to modify and install new themes, etc. Once I want to back to the "normal Windows" theme, Aero, etc: will I suffer? Is this complicated?

Maybe others will say something else. I have been using OD full time and WindowBlinds together for over 6 years and never saw my computer slow down. From your specs you should have plenty of go.

Windowblinds like all of Stardocks customization products have little or no resource usage. Been using them for 7 years and never had a problem. You'll be pleased when you get it. I know I was.

Great to know. Thank you all.

Regarding uninstallation of Windowblinds, can we fall in some problem? For example, if I decide in the future not to use it anymore. When uninstall will my Windows be broken, etc? Is it the risk of some problem here?

Or all I have to do is uninstall it and Windows will automatically come back to its natural and standard theme?

Since Windowblinds is the main product that Stardock has strongly developed to obviate any of mishap,you should take the discretion at somewhere else.

Simply open thw Windowblinds config and click on 'Windows Aero' to revert to default and you are free to uninstall without issue...

Hi DrJBHL,

Really. I'm thinking in to purchase WindowBlinds right now. I'm extremely excited by it. I saw some screenshots in this forum with desktops modified using Stardock software, and that is crazy. Really amazing! I'm trying to hold my self, but probably I'll purchase today, yet.

If my configuration has "plenty of go", as DaveBax said above, I'm thinking seriously in to purchase and start using.

Is there a large amount of free themes we can use? Sorry for so many questions.

P.S.: I'm just curious. What configurations/PC specs do you have, all of you who helped me in this thread?

You may want other programs that are included with the purchase of a one year subscription of Object Desktop. Worth a look at the least. Also if there are any updates you will get them as they are included with the subscription.

Thanks for the suggestion. Well, it seems that there are great apps there! Works them as an integrated suite?

Does all Stardock apps are yearly billed, including WindowBlinds and ObjectDock, which I have already purchased?

Supposing I purchase and use the entire ObjectDesktop suite. Taking in consideration my above specs: is it ok, also? Will I work on my machine as aways, without to notice any slowness? And, when gaming: does any StarDock app causes problems, slowness, etc?

You have a pretty up to date system, slowness is not something you need to worry about with apps like these.

I got a few ewsg. I run Windowblinds, Objectdock, Iconpackager plus two that aren't included in the suite. They're called Sysmetrix and Rainmeter. There is also another one called Rainlendar. If you put them all together you'll a desktop people will be jealous of. And.....with the thousands of skins available...WOW! That's putting it mildly. Enjoy. Then there's all the icons. Check out the galleries...they'll boggle your mind.

Considering the amount of ram present in most systems today, yes, they use a small percentage. They DO use resources though. Last I looked, most of the resources that WB uses are buried in svchosts processes though and the average user will not spot them. wbconfig doesn't use much at all.

Stardock doesn't bill you each year. With the two programs you purchased you can receive any updates for one year. If you were to purchase Object Desktop WindowBlinds is included along with the many other programs. You can receive any updates for all programs for the year. After the year is up you will receive no additional updates or new programs that may be added to OD. Now like most of us do we renew Object Desktop each year and continue to receive updates and any new programs added. Note that the renewal price is less than the original price. If you enjoy the programs the update each year is well worth the price for all you receive.

Object Dock however is a separate program and not included in OD. Say you have version 2. You will receive updates for it till it reaches a nes version number such as version 3. Even than to upgrade the price is greatly reduced. Stardock is great that way.

Hope this helps explain a bit.
