First let me say thanks to everyone who participated and helped others in the forums with testing. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of entries submitted, and the conversations it generated in the forums with people offering to help others. I was also happy to see some skinners break from their regular skins to try something news, so overall I think this mini-contest was a big success. It was really tough to choose winners as all the entries were of top-notch quality, but we choose the winners based on the design and creativity of the entries.
I’d also like to post some honorable mentions:
Thanks again to everyone who entered, and I’ll contact you about winnings in a day or so.
Many Congrats to the winners of this contest! You all did a great job. It was a great idea to spur uploads of material to go with Start8! Everyone did a great job & should continue as this does help dress up a some what lacking & dull OS. We must push MS to allow greater customization of it's system & make it more exciting to use. It's to their & our benfit and those who use these systems to spur creativity. What good is it to have Windowblinds, Photoshop, Paint shop pro, Gimp, Paint.Net, Real Draw or any other graphics program if you can't use it!? Are we reduced to just making buttons? Or will that disappear too? Xp Logon customization disappeared with Vista. Now DX. Windowblinds? Yes give the casual user options but always include the imaginative user the option to tickle others fancy. Makes good sense money wise too. It doesn't take an idiot to see the direction they are headed and it shows in sales. There are no artistically creative individuals in MS & those in charge have lost touch with their base. They push us we need to push back. Some day you won't even be able to put up a background pic of your kids, pets, wife/husband, departed loved ones. Where will it end? In us being obsolete. On a different note I want to very graciously thank Jim "Redneckdude" for his gift of a WC subscription after getting a prize he so thoughtfully knew I couldn't afford it & gave out of his heart and never forgot me. He has been a very great inspiration to me. I am thankful for him & so many others in this & other communities who have encouraged me & given their time to help me become a better artist. We all must give him our prayers & support for his upcoming surgery! He will definetly be on my front burner always. He's a good man. Thank you Jim!
Oh and thank you Roloccolor!
