Now, getting back to the spirit of this thread;

Here is a little known fact that should finally settle the arguement....

According to Genesis 1:20-22, the chicken came before the egg.

Just to put my twopenneth in (showing I am English not an American) and the cat amongst the pigeons, Americans speak American English, not Queen's English. They are different "dialects" for lack of a better word, like Scouse and Geordie. (That'll fool the Yanks) (just a joke)

So the chicken did come first. I really thought so. How could the ege come before the chicken if the chicken had to lay the egg???

What we define as "Chicken" had to exist before it laid the egg. So that the egg could represent the chicken

so it was written.

If there were such a thing as a 'race car', it wouldn't be a palindrome anyway. A 'racecar', on the other hand, would be.

My little fact for the day:

When a human is decapitated, they can remain aware of their surroundings for upto 30 seconds. The average timespan until actual death is around 13 seconds, which is the time it takes for the brain to run out of oxygen.

In a palindrome the spaces and letter groups do not matter. Only the letters themselves matter. The space between 'race' and 'car' means nothing in a palindrome. The letters are still r-a-c-e-c-a-r, no matter how you look at it. And in reverse, they are still r-a-c-e-c-a-r.

Now, if you are talking about a "Perfect Palindrome", well then, yes.

I was talking about a general palindrome.

A famous palindrome that is often used as an example when defining a palindrome is "Madam, I'm Adam". It is a palindrome, just not a "Perfect" palindrome such as the word "radar".

Another little fact:

The source of the expression "cock and bull story".

Meaning:

A fanciful and unbelievable tale.

Origin:

The phrase may have originated at Stony Stratford in Buckinghamshire, England. The village has two pubs, the Cock and the Bull. Coaches between London to Birmingham changed horses at one pub or the other. The banter of the rival groups of travellers, from England's two largest cities, resulted in exaggerated and fanciful stories

Actually, Matthijs....that's quite useful information....for termites.....like if you're a termite then South Africa is not a clever holiday destination...
