A few weeks ago I responded to a Post by Frogboy asking if Corel 11 was worth the Upgrade. I have been Beta testing it for the last 5 months and at the time posted a pretty
Resounding NO.
However, I just installed the Final version. And I have changed my mind. The Big bug That I had been complaining about was that there is a “known Bug” in it that stops you from exporting transparent PNG Files. (These are what I and many others use to Make Icon and DesktopX objects). This bug is still there, though I have been assured that it is on the list for the first Service Pack.
However today I gave the Gold Version another shot and I made a discovery that changed my mind. In 11 they have Vastly improved the Photoshop export filter. As most of you know this is a much mote flexible and stronger File format and Just as or even more useful in making skins and Icons and such. I have switch over to making PSD files instead of PNG’s and the only drawback is PSD files are much larger then PNG’s do to the fact that it dose not use compression. The Icons I have done this way are working great and I think I am content with Corel Again.
Anyway, just wanted to clear up my stance on 11 incase anyone took my last advice to heart.
Have a great day. This is just my Opinon.
PS. And I know most of you are using Photoshop or Paint shop-Pro or some other Bitmap program so please don’t flame me with a bunch of stuff about how crappy Corel is. I still am of the opinion that it is one of the strongest graphics programs out there, and if you have ever used one of my skins you have seen what it is capable of.
