xp was junk, too. i remember hundreds of posts on forums saying that when xp was released. there were people on this forum trashing windows 7 when it was released, too. many said that the win7 taskbar was worthless unless you enabled 'icon and text'. i have seen very, very few desktop screenies using that configuration, tho. win8 works fine once you get used to the new interface. but, if ya don't like it, that's fine. don't use it. nobody can make anyone else use any os they don't want to use. heck, i'll never use linux on my pc or android on my phone. that doesn't mean they're bad. i don't go on forums trashing them, though.
Yeah, most previous versions of Windows got trashed, ridiculed and smart-mouthed... until the next editon... then the previous version was the bees knees, the best thing since sliced bread. XP copped its fair share of bad-mouthing, yet it is still one of the most used OSes there is. For mine, some people just aren't happy if they're not bitching about something... and where else better to bitch about Windows than on a Windows related site?
I will admit, I don't like the GUI of XP, however stable it might be under the hood. It is gaudy and looks too much like Fisher Price designed it... thank goodness for Windowblinds, Iconpackager and CursorXP, otherwise it was a visual nightmare to use. I liked/like Vista and Win 7, however, and believe they were/are great forerunners to Win 8 as they help prepare us for it with new and better ways of doing things... improvements over XP under the hood. Having said that, Windows 8 is the best, most stable edition of Windows thus far. It may not be completely skinnable as yet, but it will be and I'm looking forward to that. In the meantime, though, I'm enjoying using a great OS...and Windows Blue will bring more greatness to the table, er, desk.
The article states that according to win8china, Windows Blue will be a free update to Windows 8.
I wonder where they get their information? MS gets hacked recently and then confidential information gets leaked from Chinese website. Makes you wonder.
From what I can ascertain, win8China is Microsoft, or a division thereof. In any event, Microsoft in Redmond has itself released some details regarding Windows Blue, and that such incremental updates will become the norm, rather than full-blown new editions.
