Object Dock Question

I don't own ObjectDock but I do use Dell dock on a couple of my Dells. What I was wondering is if ObjectDock can make a Dell Dock lookalike where you can put separators in and have folders in it that have drop down menus. It looks like the tabbed OD would do that but I don't want to display tabbs. I just want to be able to mouse over an object and have it show there are other things in that particular tab.

For example I have an office folder in my dell dock that when I mouse over shows a small down arrow indicating there are things in that tab. Clicking on the office folder brings up a small folder underneath it showing all the programs I have in it.

The forums are many and not every post is seen.

Object Dock does have separators and has a fly-out menu option similar to the DellDock. You can also use the 3rd-party Stacks docklet to accomplish what you desire.

In my opinion, Dell Dock is the best docking program I've ever used and I've tried just about all of them. It's easy to set up, doesn't eat up a lot of memory (9k), and does the job. I don't need fancy bells and whistles, I just want something that works and looks clean. Nexus comes close but I love the thin outline of Dell Dock which it doesn't have. If you came out with a version that works on other computers I would buy it in a heartbeat.

If someone has OD setup like Dell Dock and could post a screen shot I would sure appreciate it. I tried the free version and it doesn't even come close to Dell Dock. Before I spend money on something I would like to know if it does what I'm looking for.

The other issue I might run into is it's for a Windows 8 laptop. Does OD work with Win 8?

I know what you are saying, I had the dell dock also but when I got my Alienware computer the dock would not work. I downloaded the free object dock but it does not do what the dell dock did. I just bought the Object dock Plus, I think it will do what you are wanting. I bought it because I want it to do exactly what you are wanting. I am waiting on an answer to my question regarding getting the plus version to work. You can check it out on their web site.

The Dell Dock was made by Stardock specifically for Dell and Dell only. Dell provides the Support for it, not Stardock. It will work only on Dell computers. As for whether it will work on W8, you'd have to ask Dell.

As for making OD/OD+ and OD2 "more like the Dell Dock" there are contractual limitations, as I understand it. I'm not an SD employee, so take my answer as such and not an "official/authorized" answer.

OD does have the possibility to create "fly-out" subdocks. There are numerous Forum posts about this.

As for working with W8, it's a "not yet". There are other apps which do similar things. You can find out a lot more on the Support page:

You mean something like this? This is the paid version of NeXus with a sub-dock. The thin separators are another matter but separators can be used. BTW, You can use ObjectDock backgrounds with NeXus.
