DesktopX question about z-order

I always used DesktopX on Windows 2000/XP, that allows the 'always on top' z-order, so i created some of my themes using this z-order.
My question is:
Wath happens on nonXP Windows when you uses a DesktopX theme on 'always on top' mode?
-It remains on the desktop?

hmmmm, I am about to put DesktopX on Windows 98 to see myself. I would think th z order would stay the same. Always on top is another story.

I guess my old system has become my skinning test box for designs and making sure it works on the all or most Windows platforms.

i don't have enough space on my desktop for two computers ...
